Nutrition Services

Mercy Medical Center’s Nutrition Services department is staffed by a Licensed, Registered Dietitian Nutritionaist (RDN).  The RDN provides the highest level of nutritional counseling for hospital patients, outpatients and long term care residents.  An RDN will learn about your health history, favorite foods, eating and exercise habits and help you set goals and prioritize.  Follow-up visits will focus on maintenance and monitoring your progress.
Benefits of working with Mercy's RDN:

  • Management of chronic diseases like high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes or cancer by helping cerat an eating plan that includes all the important nutrients that can help manage the disease.
  • Guidance navigating food allergies, sensitivities and intolerance by teaching how to read food labels to know which ingredients to avoid and help find substitutions to keep the diet balanced and tasty.
  • Development of weight loss program that is safe and effective and can be followed for the long haul by using creative strategies to help with meal planning, grocery shopping, food journaling and mindful eating.
