Through a comprehensive community health needs assessment conducted during March and April, Appanoose County citizens ranked mental health as the community's number one health issue. The mental health concern was described as gaps in access to mental health services as well as crisis mental health intervention or lack of options.
Pain Management Clinic at Mercy

Matt Biggerstaff, D.O., a pain management specialist will be holding clinics every other Friday at the Mercy outpatient clinic located at the hospital beginning August 2. Biggerstaff who is board certified in anesthesiology and pain medicine, specializes in the diagnosis and management of chronic pain.
Disaster Drill Planned

Disasters can strike quickly, without warning and recent events in other parts of the country is a sobering reminder. With that in mind, Mercy Medical Center is sponsoring a multi-agency disaster drill on Thursday, August 1 beginning at 6:00 PM.
Local Man is Catalyst for Parkinson's Support Group

Thanks to Jerry Boblenz, a Parkinson's Support Group is starting in Appanoose County. Mercy Medical Center will be holding an initial meeting on Thursday, June 20th at 5:30 PM in the south cafeteria of the hospital.
Local Doctor Retires

Thirty-seven years ago, Dr. Brad McConville returned to Centerville and began to practice what was described at the time as his "brand of medicine". His brand of medicine included a solo practice in the early years which included being on call at all times and delivering over 1000 babies. To this day, he is still proud to be referred to by his patients as "an old country Doc."
