Emergency Medical Services
Mercy Medical Center maintains a 24-hour emergency room and 24 hour ambulance service. Serving over 5000 people a year, 24 hour emergency physicians and personnel are certified in advanced cardiac life support. Mercy also has air ambulance capabilities when needed.
Diagnostic Imaging
Hospital based diagnostic services include radiology, mammography, ultrasonography, CT scan, nuclear medicine
PET scan and MRI. A local radiologist is on staff at the hospital as well as 24-hour teleradiology capabilities.
Inpatient Services
Private rooms all equipped with satellite television and telephone provides a quiet restful atmosphere. An educated and experienced nursing staff guides the patient care process. Besides a medical nursing staff, Mercy Medical Center also practice specialties in surgery, certified trauma nursing, obstetrics, critical care, home care and cardiac care. Other services include a full range of clinical services including diagnostic laboratory and sophisticated radiology equipment, physical therapy,
occupational therapy, respiratory therapy, cardio-pulmonary rehabilitation, special care unit, social services/discharge planning, pharmacy, patient education, pastoral care, surgical service and telemedicine.
Obstetrics
Modern Birthing Rooms with a home like atmosphere and specially trained and caring nurses make Mercy's OB department on the hospital's most complimented services. Maternity care begins with Mercy's pre-natal classes offered free to the community. The entire atmosphere and open visitation hours make the Mercy maternity experience a family event. OB nurses also provide complimentary home nursing visits to moms and babies.
Outpatient Services
Mercy provides a broad range of modern diagnostic and treatment services on an outpatient basis. Radiology includes X-ray, CT scans, mammography, ultrasound, nuclear medicine and MRI. The Laboratory has a full component of testing available including drug testing.
Rehabilitation Services includes a licensed physical therapist and a licensed
occupational therapist.

Telemedicine
Mercy Medical Center provides patient consultations and educational services through its high technological telemedicine system. The system which links Mercy Centerville to Mercy Des Moines and to other tertiary care facilities across the country via the fiber optics network, makes it possible for a physician in Centerville to examine a patient here while a specialist elsewhere can see and discuss with both patient and doctor. Laboratory specimens, x-rays, and other diagnostic tests can be relayed at the same time giving the specialist all the information he needs for the consultation. The system allows the patient the benefits of a specialty consultation without the inconvenience and expense of a long distance trip. Telemedicine also provides teleconferencing for medical personnel including physicians, to receive required continuing education credits.
Long Term Care
The long-term care unit at Mercy is the area's only nursing home facility with all private rooms including television and telephone. A light airy dining room and activity room is available for the resident's enjoyment. Full hospital programs are available including physical therapy, pharmacy, respiratory care and 24-hour professional nurse support. Other services to residents include activities coordinator, free laundry services, and beautician/barber service on site. A community based care review committee monitors the proper care and treatment of all residents.
Home Care & Hospice
Mercy Home Care staff provide in-home nursing, medical social
service, physical therapy, IV Therapy and home health aides for both post hospital care as well as for the terminally ill patient. Referrals can be made by health professionals, family or friends or anyone experiencing a long-term or short-term illness.
Life & Fitness Center
The Mercy Life & Fitness Center is a community health and fitness center that houses the hospital's health promotion and education department. The center includes a 5-lane swimming pool, spa, sauna, exercise and weight room and multi-purpose gym. Qualified fitness staff design full fitness and health programs to meet individual needs including, exercise, diet and lifestyle education. Along with community membership to the facility, the hospital provides industrial and sports rehabilitation at the facility with two licensed physical therapists.
Educational Training
Mercy is an educational training site for Indian Hills Community College in the areas of nursing, physical therapy assistants, radiology technicians, and health information. Mercy is also a training site for the University of Iowa and St. Ambrose's physical therapy programs as well as for Drake University's Pharmacy program, Creighton University's Physical Therapist and MaryCrest Nursing programs.
Morgan E. Cline Mercy Plaza
The hospital owns the Morgan E. Cline Mercy Plaza
Clinic attached to the hospital. The clinic houses a family practice
physician and an ob-gynecology specialist. The clinic is open
regular hours Monday - Friday for diagnosis and treatment of
patients.
Women's Health Center
Mercy Medical Center offers women's health services including
mammography and bone density screening. The hospital also coordinates the area's Breast Cancer screening
program which provides screening for women who have no insurance or who are
under insured. Mammography with Imager Checker technology that over reads the
result and new MammoPads which make mammograms more comfortable
enhance this service for women. Bone density testing is also
available in this modern and comfortable setting. The addition
of steriotactic biopsy capabilities allows the hospital to provide
the very latest in women's diagnostic capability right here at home.
